His name is Storm and it all happened on a Sunday morning.
Storm, an English golden retriever, and his Dad Mark Freely are leisurely strolling on the beach with Mark’s other pup Sara when all-of-a-sudden Storm spots something out in the water. Of all things, it’s a baby deer in the Long Island Sound.
“Storm just plunged into the water and started swimming out to the fawn, grabbed it by the neck, and started swimming to shore,” a surprised Mark Freeley, tells CBS New York.
And he’s got it all on the video on the next page.
When they reach shore, Storm follows the baby and lies down next to her.
“And then he started nudging it, and started pulling it to make sure shew as gonna be OK I guess,” Mark continues.
Mark calls experts Erica and Frank Floridia of Strong Island Rescue to check out the fawn, but as soon as they start walking toward them, his dogs react and the fawn takes off back into the water.
