“Love is love, no matter who it’s coming from.”
It's early Friday morning when a staff member at DeKalb County Animal Services in Georgia discovers a young, homeless man fast asleep outside the shelter’s front door.
When he's awakened, the young man confesses that he has just spent the last cent he had collected to ride the bus to the shelter in hopes that his best friend in the world is inside. He desperately needs her back in his life.
“Our kennel tech woke him up, and the man said his dog had gone missing,” Karen Hirsch, spokesperson for the shelter, told The Dodo.
The wonderful news he hears is that his lost dog has been picked up as a stray about two weeks earlier. The not so great news is that she is being sheltered across town in the animal service's new facility. The only way the young man can get there is by walking.
Generously, the kennel tech covers the cost of train fare to the new facility.
The staff at the new facility has already become familiar with the lively, tan pup, named Tata. They have found she is a happy, healthy little girl.
And when her Dad arrives it becomes heaven on earth, not just for the young man and his pup, but for the entire staff at the shelter.
Clearly what the young man lacks in material wealth, he and his pup are rich with love.
It so obvious in the video on the next page.
