The arrow pierced Dozer totally through his torso!
What possesses a person, with a bow and arrow in hand, to take aim at someone’s beloved pet? All sorts of thoughts come to mind, but none seems to come close to answering the question.
A man, accused by police of assaulting a dog with bow and arrow on a Grays Harbor, WA, archery range, was arrested Monday.
The dog, named Dozer, shot the day before, was pierced all the way through his body. The arrow has been removed and Dozer has been treated by a veterinarian. Happily, he is expected to survive the attack.
And, thankfully, a 50-year-old suspect, whose name has yet to be released, has been jailed on first-degree animal cruelty charges.
After Dozer’s owner discovered his pup with the arrow embedded in his body, Grays Harbor County police were contacted. Undersheriff David Pimentel said in an email that the owner thought the incident most likely occurred at the nearby Grays Harbor Bowman’s Club.
Deputies contacted the club for their surveillance video. It clearly shows the suspect shooting the dog at a 40-yard distance, and underlines the fact that the suspect was the only person at the club at the time.
We are hoping that justice will be served.
