“Must be a Texas dog cause he can survive without help.”
When the news alerts Gulf Coast citizens to stock up provisions for Hurricane Harvey, the massive storm that continues to hammer parts of the Texas Gulf Coast, one dog takes the warning very seriously.
In fact, the morning after the hurricane ravages his town of Sinton, just north of Corpus Christi, the German shepherd mix is caught on camera, walking down the road, carrying a full bag of dog food.
The photo quickly goes viral.
The offbeat scene is witnessed by Sinton residents who are out in their yards, trying to pull their lives together after the destructive storm tears through their city.
Tiele Dockens is checking out the damage for friends and family, when she sees the pup carrying his large bag of dog food down the street.
“It was after the storm this morning when I went to town to check damage on properties,” Dockens told HuffPost on Saturday. “Lots of people were out in their yards and streets cleaning up branches, trees and debris.”
Dockens, seeing the dog in survival mode, shares his image with the hashtag #refugee.
