Body camera footage shows Minneapolis police officer shooting and seriously wounding two dogs in a residential backyard behind the home in the 3800 block of Queen Avenue N. in North Minneapolis, Saturday, July 8, 2017 when he responded to a false security alarm. .

In the footage from the officer’s body cam, you can clearly see the dogs’ temperaments and how they approached the officer during the encounter.

Ciroc ran out first, stopped and walked slowly towards the officer wagging his tail, when the gun goes off. The second dog, Rocko, runs out and is also hit. Rocko goes out of frame, while Circoc is seen struggling to get away.

Ciroc suffers a bullet to the jaw, breaking it, and Rocko was hit multiple times in his body. Both dogs survived but will require extensive treatment.

“I dispatched both of them,” the officer Mays reports immediately after the shooting.
